Luna Laila is an multidisciplinair artist whose soul finds expression through various forms of visual art forms. Her colorful and vivid art speaks volumes, embodying a spiritual and authentic essence inspired by the depths of the human experience. From painting to tattooing, from clothing design to filmmaking, she immerses herself in creative exploration. Through her art she aims to share, connect, inspire, and evoke introspection.
Born and raised in The Netherlands, She entered the world as an autodidact artist with a natural talent for drawing and painting. In 2019, she launched her own self titled clothing label. As a very conscious artist, she began to educate herself about the clothing industry and wanted to make a change. By creating a collection of customized clothing with ecological materials, handpainted designs on vintage clothing, with the goal of creating awareness to sustainable fashion, by the combination of fine art and fashion.
As an aspiring filmmaker she finished her degree as an audiovisual specialist in Amsterdam. As a freelance video editor she worked on projects for NPO3, Eye FilmMuseum, VANS and more branded promotional videos. During her internships she worked as a content creator at the music label of the international artist Mr Probz. At Left Lane Recordings she worked with various artists and developed her photo and videography skills on set and in the studios. During her second internship at Vice Media Group, she worked as an online video editor from local based projects such as Vice Interviews to bigger international projects for Vice UK and Motherboard. After her internship she became their regular freelance video editor, and even developed her own show on the platform of Vice Nederland. The show ‘Koken en Smoken’ became a very successful online serie where Luna Laila invites famous guests to create a vegan meal, while interviewing the guests.
In the meantime she developed as a surrealistic painter, by exploring different mediums and experimenting with different paint techniques. From acrylics to watercolor, and from realistic to abstract work. Which helped her develop her signature style she’s known for today. In 2021 she started joining group expositions with creative collectives at They Grey Space in The Middle (The Hague), MidWest (Amsterdam), De Bouwput (Amsterdam), 2nd Culture (Amsterdam), Adam Tower (Amsterdam), Mono (Rotterdam), Bar Bario (Amsterdam), ZAMEN (Amsterdam) and more.
Besides creating visual art in all forms , she also started as an upcoming DJ at clubs and events. She describes her style as 'music you can shake your ass to' with vibes such as batida, baile funk, ama piano, gqom, afro beats & rhythms, old school hiphop, jersey club and many (sub) genres she is still exploring.
Throughout her multidisciplinair career, she has perfected a multitude of skills to express her creativity through a variety of mediums, including fine art painting, tattoo work, clothing design, film making, content creation, dj'ing and more. She continues to fulfill her purpose by painting the world a better place.
